Chevelle, a dedicated teacher, and Rich, a hardworking construction professional, were both looking for a way to bring a little more joy into their daily lives that would not only support their family but also bring smiles to their community. With the encouragement and support of family members who own an ice cream shoppe near Des Moines, the couple turned their dream into reality. In 2018, they opened their first ice cream shoppe, Here’s the Scoop, in Davenport, Iowa.
Since then, they have grown into two thriving storefronts and a busy food truck; each one built on creativity, community, and a whole lot of ice cream made from local and natural ingredients. But the journey wasn’t always smooth. The Sampsons faced roadblocks early on, struggling with unreliable machines that couldn’t keep up with their demands or their high standards of quality.
